1965 Founding of the Foundation Recreation and Promotion Warffum
1965 Folklore group Grunneger Daansers celebrate their 10th anniversary and, on behalf of the Federation of Folkloristic Groups in the Netherlands, they organise the annual international Festival
1966 From June 29th till July 2nd the first festival takes place in a tent on a field used for sports, on the Westervalge. Three pillars: folklore, an art market, an exhibition of all kinds of products from the retail-and the agricultural-trade and also products from small shops
1968 Council hires someone to take care of the festivals administration
1970 Fifth anniversary
1973 Received the Visser Neerlandia prize for social cultural work
1973 Royal visit from Her Majesty Queen Juliana to the festival
1979 Funds received for the festival from the Prince Bernhard Foundation and the Rabo bank
1983 Member of CIOFF, Conseil International des Organisations de
Festivals de Folklore
1985 Member of IOV, Internationale Organisation für Volkskunst
1985 Royal visit from Her Majesty Queen Beatrix
1987 Festival gets it’s own accommodation: the Pavilion
1990 The new Op Roakeldais Events hall is ready for the Op Roakeldais Festival
1990 Visit from Princess Margriet and Pieter van Vollenhoven
1994 Cultural prize, council Eemsmond.
1997 Honourable indication at the nominations for the National Tourism prize
1998 Promotion prize Chamber of Commerce
2000 K. ter Laan Culture prize
2000 Tine Clevering-Meijer prize
2003 Restoration of the Pavilion
2006 Second prize in the category Excelent region-event  awarded by Stichting Nationale Evenementenprijzen
