The name, the logo and the designer

The name 'Op Roakeldais' is a Gronings expression which means 'hoping for the best', This name was chosen as such good results were made due to the good co-operation of the different initiators.
This expression originated from the medieval Latin name 'Miraculum Dei' which means 'Wondrous of god'.

Op Roakeldais uses a dancing couple as their logo. This was designed in 1966 by the expressive artist Aizo Betten (1938). When he designed the logo he was working as a teacher at the R.H.B.S. in Warffum( now the Hogeland College, havo/vwo). Aizo Betten lives in Warffum and is a member of the Kunstkring De Ploeg.
In 2004 he designed a new flag for the festival, with of course the logo in a place not to be missed.
