National Ballet of Uzbekistan “Shodlik”

Uzbekistan is a country in Central Asia bordering Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Turkmenistan. The landscape consists mainly of desert with occasional oasis where caravan cities arose during the Silk Road that connected East Asia and the Mediterranean between the 2nd and 18th centuries.

The group comes to us from Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. This beautiful ensemble has already visited more than 30 countries around the world. The group was founded in 1936 with the main aim of developing and promoting Uzbek music through music, song and art.

The culture of Uzbekistan is very old and surprisingly diverse. It owes its originality to the connection of many ethnic groups in its territory and the fusion of customs and arts of the many peoples who crossed the Great Silk Road.

Each territory of Uzbekistan has its own characteristics manifested in works of art, music or clothing. Vibrantly personifying the beauty of Uzbek culture as a whole, the dance is highly expressive and emphasizes the complex, demonstrative hand movements and rich facial expressions. The group will show almost all regions of the country during Op Roakeldais.
