Ballet Folklorique Tchè Créyol

Martinique, a beautiful island full of contrasts and culture in the heart of the Caribbean. The folklore of Martinique has a Creole culture that mixes African, French, Indian and Caribbean elements and the group is very proud of that! The folklore of this Caribbean island is a lively and rich mix of African, French and indigenous Caribbean influences, with deep roots in the history of colonization, slavery and cultural resilience. The dances that Ballet Folklorique Tchè Créyol show symbolize this past. The group has its own orchestra that writes and composes their own songs and this allows you to dance! A special instrument that the group has brought with them is the steel drum. With just those sounds, we as an audience are really in the Caribbean for a while.
