Taiwan is an island nation in East Asia, located southeast of China and north of the Philippines. This year, a very special group will be on stage! In Taiwan, dragon dances are more than just shows; they are deeply rooted in popular belief and this is what this special group will show this edition! Especially for the festival, they have developed a dragon that is their longest, that they have ever worked with and they will be accompanied by a live orchestra. Each color of the dragon has its own symbolism. The dragon often follows a “pearl of wisdom”, carried by a dancer at the front. This symbolizes the eternal search for knowledge, enlightenment and spiritual growth. The dragon’s writhing movements during the dance depict how he pursues this pearl with passion and dedication.
